"Good films make better humans"

This concept resonates with me for many reasons. But mostly because I know it’s true, I’ve seen it happen. I’ve sat in a room after watching a film that prompted much needed discussion on topics that shifted perspectives in real time, including my own.

Be it a car commercial or a feature-length documentary, when done correctly, stories have the ability to make us better.

About

My 20s granted me the opportunity to travel the world as a professional climber. I adored those years for many reasons, one of which was it afforded me exposure to film production, which I quickly fell in love with.

In 2012, climbing was steadily becoming more mainstream as social media was taking hold, which created a new space and a need for outdoor climbing content. With a knack for logistics and a background as an athlete, I quickly found work as a consultant and producer for Red Bull Media House.

My time at Red Bull opened doors for me that evolved beyond climbing and gave me extensive experience in documentary-style production, with a focus on extreme outdoor sports. Many of these projects were in concert with public land departments and nonprofit organizations, resulting in meaningful storytelling that wove educational messaging around conservation and awareness.

Since then, my work has grown to include a wide variety of focus, including broadcast and digital commercials, narrative, and documentary shorts featured on American Airlines. These projects are often built around people in travel, food, and the outdoors that blend scripted and documentary-style work together for a more authentic people-forward approach.

Many of these projects have been developed with Matador Network, where I have often been empowered to tell stories that celebrate and elevate voices in the queer and BIPOC communities. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, creating space for these stories is deeply personal and rewarding. It has allowed me to grow in my career as a filmmaker while producing content that represents the types of stories I wish I had seen growing up. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of them.

Along with my work as a freelance contractor, in 2019 moved into a retainer position as an Associate Creative Director for Matador. In addition to building and managing their creative department, I have led teams through creative and production on many of Matador Network’s most viral videos, with millions of views worldwide. Much of this work includes travel and tourism content, as well as more recently produced and directed commercials for brands such as Ford Bronco, Subaru, GMC, REI, L.L.Bean, Samsung, and many more.

As the industry continues to grow and my role evolves in it, I am excited to move towards ambitious projects that challenge me to adapt to the new ways we are experiencing film; from digital Ai to streaming and all that's yet to come.
